The Electrical Controls/Design Engineer will be responsible for designing electrical controls for both standard and custom packaging machines. This includes programming, integration, and communication for various PC's, PLC's, HMI's, servos, VFD's, and related components. You will be working with the Packaging, Machinery and Automation (PM&A) Team based in Orlando, FL. In this role, you will assist in developing equipment by implementing emerging technologies and utilizing best practices in controls design.
Key Responsibilities:
Design standard machinery controls to meet customer's packaging needs.
Ensure accuracy of electrical and pneumatic calculations for automation mechanisms and equipment design.
Create and maintain structured electrical bills of materials for specific equipment.
Research and select appropriately sized electrical components for machinery.
Use AutoCAD 2D to develop electrical layout drawings for production and customer usage.
Assist in cost reduction and quality improvement of electrical designs.
Understand customer's electrical specifications and requirements for packaging operations.
Collaborate with technical writer to create machine documentation.
Program standard equipment upgrades and custom packaging machinery.
Participate in machinery start-up and commissioning at plants and customer facilities.
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited University or equivalent combination of education and technical/professional experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical/controls/programming.
Preferred experience in electrical design of industrial automated machinery using AutoCAD Electrical.
